How It Works

Brimonidine tartrate is a relatively selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist. It is thought to lower IOP through two complementary mechanisms: reducing the production of aqueous humour inside the eye and increasing its uveoscleral outflow. Peak ocular hypotensive effect occurs approximately two hours after instillation, with IOP reduction beginning within one hour.
