Povidone-iodine vaginal products are used for the treatment of vaginitis due to candidal, trichomonal, non-specific or mixed infections and pre-operative preparation of the vagina. In the presence of blood, serum, purulent exudate and necrotic (dead) tissue, its action persists while the color remains. Many viruses, protozoa, yeasts, cysts and spores are also susceptible.
