Ciprobay HC Otic Suspension Ear Drops 10ml is a prescription ear medication that combines ciprofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, with hydrocortisone, an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid, to treat bacterial ear infections in adults and children aged one year and older. These ciprobay hc otic ear drops target the infection while easing the swelling, redness, and discomfort that come with it.

How It Works

The two active ingredients work together for faster, more complete relief. Ciprofloxacin stops the growth of the bacteria responsible for the infection, while hydrocortisone reduces inflammation, itching, and pain in the ear canal. This dual action makes the suspension effective for acute otitis externa, commonly known as swimmer's ear, where both infection and inflammation need to be treated at the same time for the ear to heal properly.

Important Information

This is a prescription-only medicine and should be used exactly as directed by your healthcare provider. Do not touch the dropper tip to the ear or any surface, as this can contaminate the suspension. It is for ear use only and must not be used in the eyes or taken by mouth. Avoid use if you have a perforated eardrum or a known allergy to ciprofloxacin, hydrocortisone, or related quinolone antibiotics. Complete the full 7-day course even if symptoms improve. If your symptoms do not improve after 7 days or worsen, consult your healthcare provider. Store at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and light. Each millilitre of the suspension contains two clinically established actives:

• Ciprofloxacin 0.2% (as hydrochloride) - a quinolone antibiotic that kills and prevents the spread of infection-causing bacteria

• Hydrocortisone 1% - a corticosteroid that calms inflammation, swelling, and irritation in the ear

For adults and children aged one year and older:

1. Warm the bottle by holding it in your hand for one to two minutes to avoid dizziness from cold drops.

2. Lie with the affected ear facing upward.

3. Instill 3 drops into the affected ear twice a day for 7 days.

4. Stay in position for about 60 seconds to let the suspension settle, then repeat for the other ear if directed.
