Description
Crestor 10mg tablets contain rosuvastatin calcium, a selective and competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme that converts 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A to mevalonate, a precursor of cholesterol. This pharmacological agent provides systemic physiological support for the management of primary hypercholcholesterolemia (type IIa) and mixed dyslipidemia (type IIb). It is clinically indicated to reduce elevated LDL-cholesterol, total cholesterol, and triglycerides while increasing HDL-cholesterol levels.
Dosage & Administration
For optimal lipid-lowering efficacy and metabolic regulation, adhere to the following protocols:
- Initial Dosage: Administer 5mg to 10mg once daily for both statin-naive patients and those switching from other HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors.
- Maintenance Titration: Adjust dosage after 4 weeks of therapy if required, based on individual lipid profile targets.
- Timing: Administer at any time of day, with or without food. Consistent timing is recommended.
- Method of Administration: Swallow tablets whole with water. Do not crush or chew.
- Frequency: Administer once daily.
- Maximum Dose: 40mg per day is reserved only for patients with severe hypercholesterolemia at high cardiovascular risk.
Safety & Storage
- Drug Interactions: Concurrent use with cyclosporine, protease inhibitors, or gemfibrozil may require significant dose adjustments.
- Storage: Store below 30°C in the original moisture-resistant packaging. Keep out of reach of children.
