Description
Crestor 20mg tablets contain rosuvastatin calcium, a synthetic lipid-lowering agent and selective inhibitor of the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme. This pharmacological agent provides systemic physiological support for patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, mixed dyslipidemia, and homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. By inhibiting the hepatic production of cholesterol and increasing the density of LDL receptors on the cell surface, it effectively reduces LDL-C, ApoB, and non-HDL-C concentrations in the plasma.
Dosage & Administration
For precise therapeutic control of lipid levels and cardiovascular risk reduction, adhere to the following protocols:
- Standard Adult Dosage: Administer 1 tablet (20mg) once daily.
- Maintenance Titration: Dosage adjustments should be made at intervals of 4 weeks or more, based on clinical response and lipid targets.
- Timing: Administer at any time of day, independent of food intake.
- Method of Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush, break, or chew the medication.
- Frequency: Administer exactly once daily.
- Special Population Note: For patients of Asian ancestry or those with moderate renal impairment, a lower starting dose (5mg) is clinically indicated before progressing to the 20mg concentration.
Safety & Storage
- Interactions: Use with caution when co-administered with cyclosporine, fibrates, or systemic azole antifungals due to increased risk of muscle toxicity.
- Storage: Store at room temperature below 30°C. Keep in the original container to protect from light and moisture.
