Description
Fucidin H 30g cream treats infected eczema and dermatitis by combining the antibiotic fusidic acid with the mild steroid hydrocortisone in one topical formula. Fusidic acid clears the bacteria, usually Staphylococcus aureus, behind the infection, while hydrocortisone calms the redness, swelling and itching that come with it. This dual action makes Fucidin H a trusted choice for inflamed skin conditions that have become infected, used under the guidance of a healthcare provider.
How It Works
Fucidin H cream works in two complementary ways. The antibiotic component, fusidic acid, blocks the proteins bacteria need to grow and multiply, helping the body clear the infection. The corticosteroid component, hydrocortisone acetate, reduces the inflammatory response in the skin, easing the itching, redness and swelling that accompany infected eczema and dermatitis. Together they tackle both the infection and the inflammation at the same time.
Important Information
Do not use Fucidin H if you are allergic to fusidic acid, hydrocortisone or any of the cream's ingredients. Possible side effects include itching, burning or irritation at the application site, and, with prolonged use, skin thinning. This medicine treats only bacterial infections and will not work on viral or fungal conditions. Tell your doctor if you are using other corticosteroid medicines, and consult a healthcare provider before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or treating a child. In the UAE this product may require a prescription. Store below 30 degrees C and keep out of the reach of children.
Ingredients
Each gram of Fucidin H cream contains two clinically established active ingredients:
• Fusidic acid 2% (20mg/g), a topical antibiotic effective against Staphylococcus aureus and related skin bacteria
• Hydrocortisone acetate 1% (10mg/g), a mild corticosteroid that reduces inflammation and itch
It is indicated for eczema and dermatitis with secondary bacterial infection, including atopic, irritant, allergic and seborrhoeic dermatitis. Refer to the patient information leaflet for the full list of excipients.
How to Use
Fucidin H is for external use only. Use exactly as directed by your healthcare provider:
1. Wash and dry your hands and the affected area before applying.
2. Apply a thin layer to the affected skin twice daily, or as your doctor advises.
3. Wash your hands after applying, unless the hands are the area being treated.
4. Do not normally continue a single treatment course beyond 2 weeks unless told to by your doctor.
Do not apply to the eyes or use on open wounds, and avoid prolonged or repeated use, which can thin the skin or encourage antibiotic resistance. Once opened, use the tube within the period stated on the pack.
