Description

Loceryl 5% Nail Lacquer 5ml is a clinically proven antifungal nail treatment containing amorolfine hydrochloride 5% w/v, manufactured by Galderma to treat mild to moderate fungal infections of the fingernails and toenails. This 5ml bottle of medicated nail lacquer provides a complete course of treatment for 1 to 2 affected nails, lasting up to 12 months with just once-weekly application. Available in the UAE through MedX Pharmacy.

How It Works

Loceryl Nail Lacquer works through a unique mechanism that targets fungal infections at the cellular level. The active ingredient amorolfine inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. Without ergosterol, existing fungal cells break down and die while new fungal growth is prevented. The lacquer forms a waterproof, resistant film on the nail surface that penetrates deep into the nail plate, delivering antifungal action exactly where the infection lives, beneath the visible nail.

Important Information

Loceryl is for external use only. Do not use on children under 12 years, during pregnancy, or while breastfeeding without medical advice. Do not use artificial nails or apply other nail medications during treatment. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or open wounds. Rare side effects may include nail discolouration, brittleness, mild burning, or itching around the nail. Loceryl treats mild to moderate infections only - if the infection involves the nail root (lunula) or is severe, consult your healthcare provider as oral antifungal therapy may be required.

Ingredients

The active ingredient is amorolfine hydrochloride 5% w/v (50mg per mL), a topical antifungal agent from the morpholine class with broad-spectrum activity against dermatophytes, yeasts, and moulds responsible for onychomycosis. Key features of Loceryl 5% Nail Lacquer include:

• Once-weekly application, more convenient than daily creams

• Forms a waterproof, durable film that lasts between applications

• Can be covered with cosmetic nail polish during treatment

• Effective against a broad range of nail fungal pathogens

• Topical action with minimal systemic absorption

• Backed by Galderma clinical research

Other ingredients include ammonio methacrylate copolymer A, triacetin, butyl acetate, ethyl acetate, and ethanol. The kit typically includes spatulas, alcohol cleaning pads, and disposable nail files.

How to Use

For best results, apply Loceryl Nail Lacquer once a week to clean, dry nails. Follow these steps:

1. File the infected nail surface using a disposable nail file from the kit

2. Clean the filed nail thoroughly with an alcohol cleaning pad

3. Apply the lacquer evenly across the entire surface of the affected nail

4. Allow to dry completely for approximately 10 minutes before covering

5. Use a different file for healthy and infected nails to prevent spread

Continue treatment until healthy nail material has fully regrown. Fingernail infections typically clear within 6 months; toenail infections may take 9 to 12 months due to slower nail growth. If you miss an application, apply it as soon as you remember and resume the weekly schedule.
