PanOxyl Acne Foaming Wash 156g is a maximum-strength acne treatment cleanser built around 10% benzoyl peroxide, the highest concentration available without a prescription. This is an over-the-counter acne medication rather than a cosmetic face wash, indicated for the treatment of acne on the face, chest and back. The foaming formula includes moisturisers to help offset the dryness that benzoyl peroxide can cause on its own.

How It Works

Acne develops when pores clog with dead skin cells and excess oil, and acne-causing bacteria multiply inside them. Benzoyl peroxide is antibacterial and acts directly on that bacterial step in the cycle, while also helping skin shed more effectively so pores stay clear. Because it treats existing blemishes and helps prevent new ones from forming, it is used as a daily treatment rather than an occasional spot fix.

Important Safety Information

For external use only. Do not use if you have very sensitive skin or are sensitive to benzoyl peroxide. Avoid contact with the eyes, lips and mouth. Benzoyl peroxide can bleach hair and dyed fabrics, so use a white towel when patting dry and keep it away from the hairline. Skin irritation may occur, characterised by redness, burning, itching, peeling or possibly swelling; this can be reduced by using the product less frequently. Skin irritation and dryness are more likely if you use another topical acne medication at the same time, so use only one at a time if irritation occurs. Avoid unnecessary sun exposure and use a sunscreen. Stop use and ask a doctor if irritation becomes severe. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a healthcare provider before use. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away. Store at 20C to 25C.

1. Wet the area to be cleansed.

2. Apply the acne wash and gently massage the area for 1 to 2 minutes.

3. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry.

Because excessive drying of the skin may occur, start with 1 application daily, then gradually increase to 2 or 3 times daily if needed, or as directed by a doctor. If bothersome dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day. If going outside, apply sunscreen after using this product.
