Description
Pantozol 40mg gastro-resistant tablets utilize pantoprazole sodium sesquihydrate to provide systemic inhibition of gastric acid secretion. This pharmacological intervention is clinically indicated for the management of moderate to severe reflux esophagitis, the eradication of Helicobacter pylori in combination with antibiotics, and the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. The gastro-resistant formulation ensures the active ingredient bypasses gastric degradation to achieve optimal intestinal absorption.
Dosage & Administration
For maximum therapeutic suppression of gastric acid, adhere to the following clinical guidelines:
- Reflux Esophagitis: Administer 1 tablet (40mg) per day. Dose may be doubled to 2 tablets if initial response is insufficient.
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Commencing dose is 2 tablets (80mg) daily, adjusted thereafter based on acid output measurements.
- H. pylori Eradication: Administer 1 tablet (40mg) twice daily as part of a triple-therapy regimen with indicated antibiotics.
- Timing: Administer 1 hour prior to a meal.
- Method of Administration: Swallow tablets whole with water. Do not crush or chew to maintain the integrity of the gastro-resistant coating.
- Frequency: Standard frequency is once daily, typically in the morning.
Safety & Storage
- Contraindications: Known hypersensitivity to the active substance or substituted benzimidazoles.
- Drug Interactions: May significantly reduce the bioavailability of atazanavir and other pH-dependent medications.
- Monitoring: Long-term treatment (exceeding 1 year) requires regular surveillance for potential magnesium deficiency and vitamin B12 malabsorption.
- Storage: Store below 30°C in the original moisture-resistant packaging. Keep out of reach of children.
