Description
The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner is a water-based chemical exfoliant formulated with 7% glycolic acid to smooth uneven texture, brighten dullness and even skin tone with regular evening use. This 100ml bottle is the travel-friendly size of the brand's cult AHA toner, buffered with Tasmanian pepperberry, aloe vera and ginseng root to reduce the irritation usually associated with acid exfoliation.
Why This Glycolic Acid Toner Works
Glycolic acid is the smallest alpha-hydroxy acid molecule, which lets it work efficiently at the skin surface to dissolve the bonds holding dead cells in place. At a pH of approximately 3.6, this formula sits close to glycolic acid's pKa, the balance point where the acid stays available and effective without needing a harsher concentration. The result over time is refined texture, clearer-looking pores and a more luminous finish.
Ideal For
Normal, oily and combination skin dealing with dullness, congestion, blackheads, rough patches or uneven tone. The 100ml format suits anyone testing an AHA toner for the first time or keeping one in a travel kit. It can also be applied to rough, bumpy areas of the body such as upper arms. This formula is not recommended for sensitive, peeling or compromised skin. Patch test before first use.
Ingredients
• Glycolic Acid 7% - a well-studied AHA that exfoliates the surface layer, softening rough texture and the look of fine lines
• Tasmanian Pepperberry (Tasmannia Lanceolata) - a plant extract included to help reduce the irritation commonly linked to exfoliation
• Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water - soothes and adds a hydrating cushion to the water-light base
• Panax Ginseng Root Extract - an antioxidant that supports a radiant, refreshed appearance
• Amino Acids and PCA - skin-identical humectants that help maintain hydration while the acid works
Note: the pepperberry derivative varies in colour seasonally, so slight variation in the formula's tint is normal and not a fault.
How to Use
1. Use in the PM only, after cleansing and before serums or moisturiser.
2. Saturate a cotton pad and sweep across the face and neck, avoiding the eye area.
3. Do not rinse off. Follow with your moisturiser.
4. If you are new to acids, start 2 to 3 times per week and build up as tolerance develops.
Do not layer with other direct acids or strong retinoids in the same routine. Daily broad-spectrum SPF is essential while using this glycolic acid toner.
