Description
Ventolin Evohaler 100mcg is a reliever (rescue) inhaler from GSK containing salbutamol, a fast-acting bronchodilator used to relieve and help prevent the symptoms of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. Each pressurised metered-dose inhaler delivers 100 micrograms of salbutamol per puff and provides 200 doses. This is a prescription medicine and should be used only as directed by your doctor.
How It Works
Salbutamol belongs to a group of medicines called short-acting beta-2 agonists. When inhaled, it relaxes the muscles around the airways in the lungs, opening them within minutes so air moves more freely and breathing becomes easier. Because it acts quickly, Ventolin is generally used to relieve sudden symptoms rather than as a daily controller medicine.
Important Information
Ventolin is a prescription-only medicine and does not replace your regular preventer (controller) inhaler if you have been prescribed one. Common side effects can include a fine tremor (usually of the hands), headache, and a faster heartbeat, which are generally mild. Tell your doctor if you have heart problems, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, or diabetes, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Seek urgent medical help if your breathing does not improve after using your inhaler, or if symptoms rapidly worsen. Store below 30 C, away from direct heat and sunlight; do not puncture or burn the canister even when empty, and keep out of reach of children.

• Salbutamol (as salbutamol sulfate BP) 100 micrograms per actuation - a selective beta-2 adrenergic bronchodilator
• 200 metered actuations (doses) per inhaler
• Pressurised metered-dose inhaler using HFA-134a propellant, free from chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs)

How to Use
Remove the cap and shake the inhaler well. Breathe out gently, then place the mouthpiece between your lips and, as you begin to breathe in slowly and deeply, press the canister once to release a puff. Hold your breath for about 10 seconds, then breathe out slowly. Wait around 30 seconds before a second puff if one has been prescribed. A spacer device can help delivery if your doctor or pharmacist recommends one.

Always use Ventolin exactly as prescribed by your doctor. A commonly prescribed adult dose for symptom relief is 1 to 2 puffs when needed, and your doctor will confirm the right dose and frequency for you and for children.
