How Voltaren Injection Works
Diclofenac sodium is a potent NSAID that works by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis through cyclooxygenase (COX) enzyme inhibition. This mechanism reduces pain, inflammation, and fever at the source. When administered by intramuscular injection, diclofenac achieves peak plasma concentrations within approximately 20 minutes, providing significantly faster pain relief compared to oral formulations. The plasma half-life is 1 to 2 hours, and the recommended maximum daily dose is 150mg.

1. Administer by deep intramuscular injection into the upper outer quadrant of the gluteal muscle
2. Standard dose: one 75mg ampoule once daily
3. In severe cases: up to two ampoules daily (maximum 150mg), using alternate buttocks for each injection
4. For renal colic: one 75mg ampoule; a second ampoule may be given after 30 minutes if needed
5. Injectable treatment should not exceed 2 days - transition to oral or rectal forms for continued therapy
