Yaz Tablets 28s
Description

Yaz Tablets 28s is a Bayer combined oral contraceptive containing drospirenone 3 mg and ethinylestradiol 0.02 mg, used to prevent pregnancy and prescribed by doctors in the UAE for related hormonal concerns. Each pack holds 24 active light pink tablets and 4 inert white tablets, designed to support a regular 28-day cycle. This is a prescription medicine and should only be taken under the guidance of a qualified healthcare provider.

How It Works

Yaz works in three complementary ways. It suppresses ovulation so an egg is not released, thickens cervical mucus to make it harder for sperm to reach an egg, and alters the uterine lining. The drospirenone component also has anti-androgenic properties, which is why doctors may consider this combined oral contraceptive for women who also experience moderate acne or premenstrual symptoms and want contraception.

Important Information

Yaz is not suitable for everyone. It may increase the risk of blood clots, and this risk is higher in women who smoke, are over 35, or have certain medical conditions such as high blood pressure or a history of clots. Tell your doctor about all medicines and health conditions before starting Yaz. Stop use and seek medical help if you experience chest pain, severe headache, shortness of breath, or vision changes. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before use, and store in original packaging at room temperature, away from moisture and out of reach of children.

Ingredients

Each active tablet is formulated with two hormones working together:

• Drospirenone 3 mg, a progestin that supports cycle regulation and carries anti-androgenic activity

• Ethinylestradiol 0.02 mg, a low-dose estrogen that helps stabilise the menstrual cycle

The 4 white tablets are inert (inactive) and are taken during the final 4 days, when a withdrawal bleed usually occurs.

How to Use

Always follow the exact dosage prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist. The general pattern is:

1. Take one active light pink tablet at the same time each day for 24 days

2. Take one white inert tablet daily for the following 4 days

3. Start the next pack immediately after finishing the current one

If you vomit within 3 to 4 hours of taking a tablet, treat it as a missed tablet and refer to the patient leaflet or contact your healthcare provider.
