Description
Zofran 8mg contains Ondansetron, a selective serotonin receptor antagonist. This medication provides physiological support by blocking serotonin receptors both peripherally on vagal nerve terminals and centrally in the chemoreceptor trigger zone, effectively preventing and treating nausea and vomiting induced by cytotoxic chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or surgical procedures.
Dosage & Administration
- 1 tablet per dose.
- Frequency: Typically 2 to 3 times per day, depending on the severity of the emetogenic stimulus and clinical guidance.
- Timing: For chemotherapy, administer the initial dose 30 to 60 minutes prior to treatment.
- Administer orally with or without food.
- Swallow whole with water.
- Duration: Use may continue for 1 to 2 days after completion of radiotherapy or chemotherapy to prevent delayed emesis.
Safety & Storage
- Adverse Reactions: Common side effects include headache, constipation, and a sensation of warmth or flushing.
- Storage: Store in the original blister pack to protect from light. Maintain at a temperature below 30°C.
