Zyloric 300mg Tablets 28s contains allopurinol 300mg, a long-term treatment prescribed by doctors to lower high uric acid levels in the blood and prevent gout attacks. Each tablet works by blocking xanthine oxidase, the enzyme that produces uric acid in the body. By keeping urate concentrations low, Zyloric helps prevent the painful crystal deposits that cause gout flares, kidney stones and tophi. Manufactured in Germany by Aspen Pharma, this prescription medicine is taken daily under medical supervision.
How It Works
Allopurinol in Zyloric belongs to a class of medicines called xanthine oxidase inhibitors. The body normally converts purines from food and tissue breakdown into uric acid through this enzyme. When uric acid builds up beyond what the kidneys can clear, sharp urate crystals form in joints and the urinary tract, triggering gout pain and stones. Zyloric reduces uric acid production at the source, gradually dissolving existing deposits and preventing new ones. Consistent daily use is essential to maintain stable, lower uric acid levels.
Important Information
Zyloric is a prescription medicine and must only be used under medical supervision. Do not take Zyloric if you are allergic to allopurinol or any tablet ingredient. Tell your doctor about all medicines you take, particularly warfarin, azathioprine, 6-mercaptopurine, ACE inhibitors and diuretics. Zyloric is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor.
