Description

Ozempic (semaglutide) is a prescription-only, once-weekly injectable medicine designed to manage blood sugar levels in adults with Type 2 diabetes. It belongs to a class of drugs known as GLP-1 receptor agonists, which mimic a naturally occurring hormone that regulates appetite and blood sugar. This specific 2mg pen is designed for patients who require a higher maintenance dose for additional glycemic control.

Key Features

  • Powerful A1C Reduction: Proven to significantly lower blood sugar and A1C levels when combined with diet and exercise.
  • Cardiovascular Protection: Reduces the risk of major cardiovascular events like heart attack, stroke, or death in adults with Type 2 diabetes and known heart disease.
  • Kidney Health Support: Lowers the risk of worsening kidney disease and kidney failure in adults with chronic kidney disease and Type 2 diabetes.
  • Once-Weekly Dosing: Simple, once-a-week administration on the same day each week, with or without food.
  • Weight Management Benefits: While not specifically a weight-loss drug, it may help patients lose weight by slowing stomach emptying and increasing feelings of fullness.

Usage & Directions

The Ozempic 2mg pen is used as a subcutaneous injection (under the skin).

Administration Steps

  1. Prepare: Wash your hands and check the pen label to ensure it is Ozempic 2mg. Ensure the solution is clear and colorless.
  2. Attach Needle: Use a new NovoFine needle for each injection. Remove the paper tab and screw the needle onto the pen tightly.
  3. Select Dose: Turn the dose selector until the dose counter shows the 2mg mark precisely aligned with the pointer.
  4. Inject: Insert the needle into the skin of your stomach (abdomen), thigh, or upper arm.
  5. Deliver: Press and hold the dose button until the counter returns to '0'. Hold the needle in place and count slowly to 6 to ensure the full dose is delivered.
  6. Dispose: Remove the needle safely and place it in a sharps container. Replace the pen cap.
