Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication (NSAID) included in Voltaren 12H Gel. Diclofenac relieves pain and reduces inflammation at its source, in contrast to cooling gels and heat patches that only function physically (by chilling or heating the skin). Topical diclofenac is delivered directly to the afflicted tissue beneath the treated area by penetrating deeply into the skin. The active component diclofenac diethylamine is twice as concentrated in Voltaren 12H Gel as it is in Voltaren Emulgel.
The size of the affected area will determine how much Voltaren 12H Gel is needed; generally, a cherry to walnut-sized amount will be sufficient. The gel does not have a noticeable smell. For soft tissue injuries such as sprains or strains, take up to 14 days; for arthritis, take up to 21 days. Use only as directed by a physician to extend durations of time. Voltaren 12H Gel comes in an easy-to-use tube. The easy-to-open cap facilitates the application of the gel: just half a turn is enough to open the tube of gel – a big relief if joint pain limits the movement of your fingers. Read the label every time. If pain gets worse or does not ease after seven days, you should consult
